He graduated from the Faculty of Education at Palacký University Olomouc (2010–2018), and from the Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der Künste) (2003–2006). He also attended Humboldt University in Berlin, where from 2000 to 2001 he studied contemporary German literature, though he did not complete these studies. He completed an artistic internship at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and had academic residencies in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Lithuania. Forman’s work is characterized by visual richness and sophisticated color aggression in his paintings. The artist works with many motifs and is not afraid to depict iconic figures of 20th-century Czech society, such as Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, Karel Gott, or Hurvínek. He does this not in a classical realistic manner but through a deep dive into the subject. He is inspired by pop art, and his work also bears strong traces of contemporary pop culture and especially street art. Throughout his artistic career, Pavel Forman has received numerous awards and scholarships, including in Lithuania, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the USA. In 2009, he received the highest award for artists under thirty-five at the 15th Biennial of Cerveira in Portugal.
